Annual Meeting & Election on Thursday 17-Sep

September is election time for the PCA Board of Directors. Each year three of the nine seats on the Board are open for election. The term of office is three years. Some seats on the Board are open to non-members, but only Members (property owners) can vote in the PCA election.

The PCA Board of Directors meets once a month to discuss the needs of the community. The Board manages all property owned by the community, handles finances, communications, reviews applications for property improvement, and inspects our resident's properties to identify any maintenance problems. We are a self-managed home-owners association, meaning that we do not hire a management company to perform any of these tasks.

Call for Candidates

The first order of business is a Call for Candidates to run for these three Board seats. If you would like to place your name on the ballot, or just learn more about this opportunity, please write or call us for more information.

Here is the schedule for the annual meeting and election.

- 23-Aug: Deadline for nominations for seats on the Board of Directors; we must have your name by 5:00 PM on this date if it is to appear on the ballot.

- 27-Aug: Mailing assembly kits delivered to volunteers.

- 01-Sep: Deadline for return of mailing kits to the PCA.

- 02-Sep: Election notices are mailed to all property owners (received by 04-Sep).

- 15-Sep: Deadline for Members to mail their ballot and proxy form back to the PCA (only needed if you will not be attending the 17-Sep election meeting). We recommend mailing it earlier.

- 17-Sep: PCA Annual Meeting and Election at Woodfield E.S., 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

- Property owners voting by written proxy must have their proxy form and ballot mailing in the PCA's post office box by 5:00 PM on 17-Sep.

- The meeting is open to all residents of The Plantations.

PCA Board Meetings

Monthly Board Meetings: All are welcome at our meetings, which are usually held at Woodfield E.S. Please register your e-mail address with us to receive meeting invitations and community news.

PCA Annual Assessment

The 2025 annual assessment payment was due 31-Jan-2025, but we still have some residents who have not submitted payment.

In March the PCA sent out a second invoice to delinquent accounts, and a third invoice was mailed in late July. We also sent four accounts that owed for multiple years to the PCA attorney for collections actions.

Please support your community by sending in your payment, or by contacting us to enter a payment plan. NOTE: Interest will be added to past due accounts on 01-Jan-2026; pay now to save money!

Payment can be made by check, through the PCA website, and through most on-line banking accounts. We also offer monthly payments plans.

Damage to Playing Field from Motorized Bikes

Several young people in our community are riding motorized bikes on the grassed areas in Club View Park. This damages the grassed areas by creating tire ruts and tearing up grass. This is an act of destruction to private property, and those doing the damage can be required to pay for repairs.

If you know anyone who is riding a motorized vehicle in our park -- either electric or gas-powered -- please ask them to respect their neighbors, and to respect our park, and to stop riding on the grass.

In August 2024 asphalts repairs were completed throughout the community.

Lawn Treatments Restricted by County

Please note that Montgomery County now restricts the herbicides that can be used on residential lawns. Most of the common weed killers are no longer allowed, for reasons of human and environmental safety. Most products listing an EPA Registration Number on the label are prohibited. Note that the PCA's common area lawns are being treated in compliance with this law.

County Reminds Residents to License Their Pets

The Montgomery County Office of Animal Services (OAS) is asking HOAs to remind their residents that all cats and dogs must have County license, and receive regular rabies vaccinations. Follow this link for more information:

About Us

Community History

The Plantations was built starting in 1979, with the last houses built around 1985. The developer, Pettit and Griffin, built many of the houses. Some of the houses were built by Ryan Homes.

Our community is self-managed, with a total of 406 houses, 346 of which are single-family detached houses, and 60 of which are town-houses. Plantations residents enjoy two parks within our community - Club View Park and Wesley Foreman Memorial Park - as well as convenient access to adjacent Magruder Branch Stream Valley Park.
